When i decided to put this up i hadn't noticed right off that she was on this thread. Funny i think i remember her avatar, was it a picture of a horse and her in the saddle sitting tall?

And how about that Yayas in Bloom ? Wasn't that a terrible book? jojo cucina cucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09801083378294299891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-41936174610577501312013-06-28T22:49:18.043-07:002013-06-28T22:49:18.043-07:00I think Facebook won't be around in 5 years in...I think Facebook won't be around in 5 years in the way we know it now. Kind of like what happened to MySpace. I still have a love/hate relationship with it. I am grateful for the yaya board for the friendships i have made too eque. I met you, pearl, and susieatl in real life because of it. It got my political juices flowing and made me active. It gave me a place to write, express opinions, and hear differing ones. It made me think more thoughtfully about expressing those opinions in a way so they didn't polarize... probably have you pearl to thank for that. Good to see you pearl......

i have other yaya posts that i have saved in Word. I'll try to read through them more carefully if i post one again so they don't make yayas here who post cringe.
jojo cucina cucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09801083378294299891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-8115838438955328962013-06-28T21:26:30.261-07:002013-06-28T21:26:30.261-07:00I cringed too, Barbara. I am so much more articulate than that...what was I thinking??

Someone commented on this on Facebook and I couldn't resist checking it out.

island pearlpearlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13982007511015181038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-52507471224827769032013-06-28T07:29:14.619-07:002013-06-28T07:29:14.619-07:00I cringed reading my post. So much has changed in my life since then.

I remember your quote about Brian saying why would he be lying if he's telling the truth, lol! Is that post-it still on your refrigerator?

It made me sad to read Tacha's post, but happy to read the others. I remember how we always looked forward to your chardonnay musings. I think the first musing post you did was on the hot topics board under a title of something like sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Gumbo YaYa had its ups and downs and I think in the end died a natural death. Online bulletin boards are generally a thing of the past anymore, and technology and social media are always moving and changing. I'm thinking facebook's is actually on the decline these days. Too much advertising and promotion, meaningless pictures to "like and share." It bores me, and yet I still can't stop checking it. I should just read more.

But the YaYa board made a big difference in my life. I formed lifelong friendships, and the people and the inspiration of Rebecca Wells made me believe in myself and step outside of my comfort zone. For that I will always be grateful.

~equeyayaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-81214056121886645852013-06-26T11:57:11.439-07:002013-06-26T11:57:11.439-07:00When I saw Tacha's name my heart skipped a bea...When I saw Tacha's name my heart skipped a beat. Yes she was the one who was riding her big ole white horse and was killed by a logging truck.

The best book RW wrote was the first. The rest sucked donkey balls.

We've got a new dog who's not tolerant of the little one taking some of her food. She'll settle down. She's in the kennel of shame right now and he's sitting on top of the couch guarding her.

The hours keep inching closer to my big 60. I probably should make my list and start packing.

My daughter went to Disneyland yesterday and brought me 3 pieces of birthday cake salt water taffy. OMG , it was like heaven.

I visit the 2 boards that I am a member of still. The dynamic isn't the same.

Reading "The Skies Belong To Us: Love and Terror in the Golden Age of Hijacking" by Brendan Koerner. Fascinating stories and how the airlines didn't want to pony up the money to put metal detectors in the terminals because it would slow things down. Oh how have we changed haven't we?

My new sunglasses are being delivered today. I ordered them from ZenniOptical.com.

A clap for SCOTUS. They actually thought these 2 out.
amulbunny's random thoughtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10621932038345682056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-64492780818681337442013-06-25T21:11:10.446-07:002013-06-25T21:11:10.446-07:00Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's ...Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is the one who takes the prize. jojo cucina cucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09801083378294299891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-49657650308667531702013-06-25T21:10:42.030-07:002013-06-25T21:10:42.030-07:00Oh yeah, and that YaYas in Bloom book.....totally ...Oh yeah, and that YaYas in Bloom book.....totally sucked. I never finished it and was pissed that i bought it in hardback. I don't know what Rebecca Wells is doing now but she petered out with her second book which started the whole message board. Seems like a lot of my favorite authors went that way...Pat Conroy comes to mind with that horrible book South of Broad which took him 15 years to write and had not one redeeming character, not even a fun one to hate.

I really love books that have well written evil characters. jojo cucina cucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09801083378294299891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122471343312326996.post-61690244678775846322013-06-25T20:48:16.342-07:002013-06-25T20:48:16.342-07:00I just changed the yaya post into a different one ...I just changed the yaya post into a different one in case someone was reading immediately.

I just noticed Tacha is on this Gumbo post. Tacha was the woman who died in an accident with her horse isn't that right? Equeyaya, you would remember this.

There are many things i don't miss about about the Gumbo YaYa board, but i have to admit there are probably just as many things that i do miss. It did get my juices flowing in a way. I feel like some of my creativity and my political mojo became more dormant when it went down.

jojo cucina cucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09801083378294299891noreply@blogger.com
