Small Irritations ...What are yours?

My Very Old Old Navy Weekend Pants. (I have had these for over 15 years and they are so comfortable that i'm fixing them up too.)
Sometimes when the world feels crazy, such as with all of the ISIS stuff and the NFL domestic violence, and the fact that it appears we have a bigger race problem since Obama was elected, you have to decide to focus instead on the small dumb ass things that bug you that you might be able to control if you took the time.

Here's mine:

1. The kitchen sink trap filled with gunk. I am obsessive about cleaning it out. My husband never seems to see the crap in that little basket.

2. Bright lights, especially overhead lights with no dimmers in homes. I am all about the low glowy lights in my home. It makes me feel cozy.

3. My car door automatically locks when i get in it and i don't like that. I prefer to lock my own door. It's a control issue thing. It totally freaked me out when i first bought this Honda and it did this because my other Honda was so old and without this feature.

4. Technology upgrades. 'Nuf said.

5. My passive aggressive Comcast remote. I guess it's probably time to upgrade to a Smart TV, maybe it won't give me so much grief. It's not the batteries. It just intermittently decides when it wants to change channels.

6. The political gun control ads in our area are already all over the TV. It is going to be a deluge, worse than the genetically engineered foods initiative last year. I hated all those ads.

7. Apple - they are no longer going to make iPods. What happens if mine breaks or gets lost! i don't have a phone to hold my music. How will i run without out?

8. Our recycle company used to accept glass but quit quite awhile ago. Only paper, cardboard and aluminum. I have more bottles than all that other shit. Not only that they moved the recycle area further away from us so they don't even make it easy as they charge a lot.

9. My hair. It's too long, but i hate it when it's shorter too. At least when it's long i can put it all up and forget about it. But now the ends are bad so i'm going in to get some cut off Friday. I wish it was straighter and not so thick so i could cut it appropriately for my age without having it be a major maintenance issue.

That's actually the best i can do right now, i must be forgetting some things. I think i'm becoming too content to keep up this blog, my goal of once a week is harder now that i'm not working. Why is it when you have more time, you do less?

Notes to self:
Word Count: 457
Sunrise: 6:49
Sunset: 7:20 (This means we have lost 43 minutes of daylight since my last post! :(
Temp yesterday hi/low: 76/54
Books: Reading #30 now: finished The Weight of Blood, Astonish Me and am now reading We Only Know So Much.
Longest Run: 45 minutes. Ran twice in a row today, haven't done that since July. Plantar faciitis still there, but getting better i think.

Love the sentiment on your pants! must remember that!

Little irritants:
1. People in giant mom-vans who see my little car as too small to pose a threat and cut me off in traffic.
2. Mom-van drivers who insist on parking their hulking behemoths in the compact car slots.
3. Face it - mom vans.

Dreading the mid-term elections and the inevitable 2 years of political bile that will ensue soon thereafter. Never really liked politics - hate it now. No intelligence required, apparently. Just passion. (I've been watching the Scottish independence campaign with great interest, having family there now. They are just as sadly infected with it as we are - bitter, angry and nonsensical. "If THEY win, the world will end!" "If WE win, everyone gets a pony and chocolates for breakfast!" ) Huge irritant for me.

No workouts this week - but my cold is all but disappeared! Rest and OTC decongestants, with liberal doses of mega-vitamins.

I sympathize with your first two. I hate the sink trap. The worst is when bits of raw chicken are in there. I nearly gag. I flood it with water trying to get the bits to come out, but I almost always end up using my fingers. Blech! So disgusting.

I also hate overhead lights. I refuse to use them.

My husband is not bothered by either of these things, by the way.

He also can't put his dishes in the sink, which drives me crazy. He stacks them next to the sink, which makes a few dishes look like a ton. And, he never rinses anything out, so his smoothie cups and salad dishes have cemented food in them by the time I get home.

Can you tell I'm cranky? I'm so sleep-deprived, Jo. I'm having emotional outbursts from being so tired. I just cry from tiredness. It's embarrassing.

I've been meaning to ask if you watch John Oliver's show on HBO. I'm starting to like him even more than Bill Maher! He had a great monologue about for-profit colleges and about the Scotland vote today. I'm making a mental note to watch him more often.

The quote i found online attributed to John Lennon and i was going to add his name smaller, but i did follow up research to be sure it was his and found out that many have been credited for this quote, however it appears that Marthe Troly-Curtin is probably the one who should get the credit and embroidering her name was not as fun as John Lennon's because it's not likely anyone knows her.

Giant mom vans indeed! In fact all giant SUVs. Do you drive a Miata pearl? I forget.

Amanda we don't have HBO but i think i would love John Oliver's show and it's probably no contest that i would like him over Bill Maher. I enjoy Maher to a point but he comes across as so condescending and officious that i have to take him in doses.

When are you due Amanda?

I'm due Jan. 11. I'm already fairly miserable, so I'm worried about these last few months. I'm not one of those glowing women. I sorta want to punch a bird in the face!

Jo, do you do baby showers?

Do YOU do baby showers? lol.... i bet you are like me. It's not my favorite thing of course but if there are no games played and wine is served and most all of the people attending are pretty cool I can be talked into anything as long as it's not too far away. ha! How is that for an answer? :) Do send me an invitation! I would get a kick out of seeing you be at your own baby shower! lol.

Love my Miata(s) - I'm on my second now - it's almost 14 years old! I'm keeping it til one of us dies.

If this was FB I could post a photo... ;-)

I love when I find I remember stuff correctly like your Miata pearl!

Damn I do hate blogger from an iPad! It is so unforgiving! I see why no one wants to do anything from a Smart Phones. I already forgot what I was going to add before I got frozen.

I'm not a shower person (though I am really good at the Sniff the Diaper game), but Amy and Linda are planning it and they're the funnest people I know.

I'm putting you on the invitation list, but do not feel obligated to come. We understand each other. I hate showers, too. I'm hoping some cute cupcakes will help assuage the incredible panic that's setting in about having a baby.
