My Keen Everyday Observations... come add yours.

I have no idea where this is going to go, but i've been trying to make these shorter anyway. So winging it might help with that.

1. I am a pretty fast reader, but i seem to tear through books more so on the Kindle Fire than i do when reading books made from former trees.

2. The people with the biggest egos are often the least smart person in the department.

3. Employees who tell you they give a 110% or even more  have a pretty low bar in the first place. (Also they are not good at math.)

4. White wine tastes better when it's just slightly above room temperature.

5. Actually most things do. Including my morning yogurt. And most definitely cheese!

6. The moment i see crocuses spring up from the ground makes me already want to pull out my open toed shoes.

7. Like Lay's potato chips, it's hard to have only one glass of wine. As i said in my past post, i don't have this same problem with beer, though i really like strong microbrews.

8. Digital photography is wearing. I promised to format and upload the photos i took from the cooking class at our last trip and while some of the photos are fun and pretty good, i just hate going through them on PhotoShop in order to do this. I miss the days of just taking a roll of 36 to the one hour photo.

9. But i really hate breaking promises so i will get to it eventually. I just wish sometimes that i didn't take so many photos.

10. Blogging is going the way of the cd, the newspaper, snail mail. And that's too bad. I really love this medium. (It feeds my writing desire) and of course, my desire to share opinions and hear others' opinions!)

Observation #11. I really like screw top wines.

#12. I hate the iMac mousepad.

#13. If you are redeeming an iTunes gift card. When you scratch off the back number, use a dime and not a quarter.

I once scratched off the numbers completely using a quarter. The dime is thin and makes it easier.

#13, I use a penny.

1. I get books for -0- from Pixel of Ink to read on my Kindle. Yes I read a lot faster and thereby read a lot more. Just finished The Orphan Master's Son and Home: A Memoir by Julie Andrews, Unorthodox by Debra Feldman. Lots faster for me

2. I like screw top wines too. Got some great New Zealand whites at Costco of all places.

3. I don't have to worry about co-workers but I do have to worry about idiot relatives sometimes.

4. What do you tell a deaf BIL who emails you about how he can find a MATE to marry and stay with forever. I gave him suggestions and he shoots them down. I told him he has to get out and meet people, and it might cost him some money. I told him to contact the association for Deaf people here in LA and see if they know of get togethers. He wants someone to drop in his lap and he doesn't care if they are hearing or not. I then told him, he'd want to have someone who could communicate with him, it'd be awfully difficult if they couldn't sign. He's also losing his vision and refuses to learn braille. ::: head meet wall:::::/rant over

5. Between the cat and my husband I'm losing all my comfortable places in the living room to sit.

6. I need a new office chair.

7. If I stop my cyclosporine my hives come back. We're 3 months in now and it looks like it's going to be 6 months to see any progress.

8. The landlord still hasn't cleaned up the side yard . I'm getting tired of asking them. I'm seriously thinking of renting a low boy trash container and hiring some Hispanic guys and having them empty it. This is ridiculous. Any normal people would expect them to keep their promises. Maybe the lady next door is right, no matter how educated you are you can't take the trash out of some people.

9. Almond milk does not make good macaroni and cheese, I keep telling my husband, but he doesn't listen to me.

amulbunny, my husband got on this almond milk thing too. It's ick. He uses it in the smoothies he makes.

Re: your number 4, i think a lot of people are like that. They want someone to drop in their lap. But you DO have to be accessible, it ain't gonna happen for you BIL unless he gets out there. He needs to go hang out at conventions and hook up with the sign language interpreter. He should join the Democrats, i bet at their big conventions they always have interpreters!

I thought of some more keen observations:

#14... When I am gathering up my dirty laundry i often notice a stain that i want to Shout Out before putting them in the machine. But ultimately in the 35 steps it takes me to carry the laundry to the washing machine i can no longer find that stupid stain no matter how hard i look over everything.

#15. The older i get, the less i like being around crowds of people. Well truthfully, i have never liked crowds of people. I love music, but don't like going to concerts.

#16. The bowling alley where i bowl attracts lots of low rent people. The kind who bring their tiny babies and little toddlers at 9 pm at night and let them run around like crazy. Why is bowling considered a fairly low rent sport?

#17. Speaking of bowling, I bowl better after I have had a beer. It must loosen me up or something.

i cannot believe louielouie has not weighed in because this is right up her alley. i thought of another one while driving to work. And let me see...can i remember NOW what that was?

I was driving so i couldn't write it down...and dammit i just knew i would forget it. And no, it wasn't the one i ALWAYS say...that people waiting for the public transportation bus are ALWAYS smoking while they wait for the bus. (Which bothers me cause if they didn't smoke, they might be able to afford a car payment and be healthy at the same time. Cause i doubt very much that smokers are all about the environment.)

Oh well can't remember it.

Louie's Keen observations

1. The only time I find/have time to post is when I should be doing something else.

3. The second most important thing to good day care is good birth control.

5. It takes me forever to write a quick email to my state senator. I think it’s because I’m afraid I’ll spell something wrong or omit a word or leave a participle dangling or something and he’ll think I’m an idiot.

7. I worry I posses many strongly held opinions backed by not much fact.

9. I also worry that deep down I’m lazy (I think this is somehow connected to the “deep down I’m a fraud” or the “if you really knew me you wouldn’t like me” paranoia) and I don’t really have too much work to do, I just don’t want to do it.

11. I need a new raincoat. Something bright maybe.

13. Even though Microsoft sickens me (evidence: the weird auto-numbering that was copied from a Word document that I didn't bother to fix, oh well odd numbers are better than even numbers), Bill Gates does give a ton-o-money to good causes. I wish he would stick to Malaria though and stay out of education.

15. I believe in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Not sure why sex is on the most basic level unless it’s just for survival of the species; or maybe it’s because Maslow was a man.'s_hierarchy_of_needs

16. Now that I posted this, Jo will put up a new topic.

I have been in SEATAC for the past two days at a political conference , actually it was for work, but it was all about the political climate and what we need to do to organize so that we don't end up like Wisconsin. Needless to say, it zapped the creativity out of me, even as it was a good conference in many ways. i came home and took a nap for over two hours i was so tired. So i won't get to a new topic too soon cause i have to work tomorrow night, bowl Thursday and get my hair cut and colored (even though it doesn't need it yet) and also i have to work all day on Saturday.

Your list is good louie! I agree about Bill Gates. I am so sick of the billionaires going after public education.

I don't worry that i'm lazy. I know i'm lazy. I work when i go to work and i always get it done. But i love nothing more than doing nothing when i'm home and on vacation. And i like turning off my mind. It's not that hard for me to do cause i have a lazy mind too. And i don't even feel guilty. And louie, i never think of you as lazy. You are always in motion and multi-tasking too much for that.

I think a bright green, that popular bright electric green would be cool. dont' you have a purse that color, or maybe that's my sister in law, Marie.

I don't worry that i have opinions without facts. I know that for a fact that i do.

Apparently i am a lazy writer too. I mean bright green raincoat. I forgot to say what i was referring to.

How about that snow this morning?

coming soon. a new blog post. Been too busy. And not enough wine.

I made a mistake with my #4 i am just now noticing...i like my white wine slightly below room temperature but higher that refrigerator temperature is what i meant.

I saw on the stats that this old topic had a few hits this week so i came back to read it and saw my error.
