More Stuff I Like - Video and photos added

1. I like when i cook something new and it comes out like it's supposed to. Recently i made my own hummus with roasted red pepper. I made it with tahini. Something i never heard of until i went to that cooking class in Ellensburg a month ago.

2. I like the day before a long vacation. It's raining so hard it's as if God turned his hose on to water the Earth. Spring break is next week. It might not get any better next week, but at least i don't have to work the whole time. We're out of here to play gin rummy, stratego, Scrabble, cook, drink wine, and watch a bunch of DVDS for 5 days on the water.

3. I like when little kids smile at me. (Who wouldn't?)

4. I like people who encourage me to voice my opinions.

5. I like seeing my name in print. My Letter to the Editor that i had to write last week was published two days ago. As a result of that i got a call from another letter writer i've noticed for years. Like me, he appears in print pretty often. Apparently we are both admirers of each other's op ed pieces. He called to invite me to a group of writers who are like-minded in their politics and who meet up with various citizens who match our politics, including the county prosecutor, another Tribune columnist, the elected sheriff, and some former legislators. So i'm going this May. I'm really looking forward to it.

6. I like when i bowl anything over 125. (Tonight is bowling night!).

7. I like finding out that someone i like likes the same people i like.

8. I like finding out that someone i like, DOESN'T like the same people i don't like!

9. I like new pajamas.

10. I like when i am running against the traffic and the car coming at me gives me a wide berth by moving over for me. I always wave a thanks to them.

11. I like when they wave back.

12. I like coming home to a clean house, especially the kitchen, which is the first thing i see as i walk through the garage into the house.

13. I like the sound of birds chirping outside my window when i wake up. Sounds of spring!

14. I like my husband and my brothers and my husband's new band Blues Oasis. (and of course my nieces and nephews and in-laws)... The top photo is my brother Troy with my sister's daughter Jessica. The second photo  is my brother Scott and that's my sister's son (Jessica's brother) Chris in the middle. You can't tell from this photo but Christopher is about 6 feet 6 inches tall. And finally my husband, Brian the drummer. We were all at Rock the Dock last Saturday while Brian's blues band played. It was a very fun night and so many people came out to see them.

Here is their website: Blues Oasis website    (You can hear their music here too.)

This is a cute 38 second video of my nephew Brian dancing with a sweet old white haired lady.

woowoo. tonight i bowled a 141, 136 and a 129. I am on Troy's team. And we played Scott's team. Both of our teams are tied for first place. (Don't ask me how because we aren't THAT good, but my handicap is something like 75, so that helps). Anyway we beat them 2 out of 3 games tonight. So that was cool.

I ran 1 hour and 33 minutes yesterday. The worst thing about this is the boredom. I do not know how in the hell i ever did this 15 years ago (I ran it in 1997 and 1998) without an iPod. My knees and my breathing are fine so far. It's the time that is killing me. So i went online to see how runners train for half marathons and there are many sites about how to train for a half marathon in 6 weeks if you are already a runner.

That's my problem. I started way too early.

What a beautiful day! Rare and lovely. What a great day to be on vacation. The tide is out, the wine is great, the lasagna roll recipe that louielouie gave me (a giada recipe) turned out wonderfully. And i have 5 more days of this. Nothing to do do but read, cook, drink wine, eat, and play games. And yeah, i do have to go for a run or two.....

I ran on the treadmill this morning, Jo, and it was among the worst experiences ever. The treadmill is torture. The time goes by too slowly and I can see my jiggly bits in the reflection of the windows. Too much reality for 5 a.m. From here out, it's outside or bust, baby!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your week off. It sounds like such a nice spot.

I also like your darker hair.

Other things I like:

• Pinterest
• Cooking new things (The only risky part of my life is my cooking. I make all kinds of nasty-sounding stuff just for the adventure. I never do that in the rest of my life.)
• Easter candy (all kinds)
• The Ram's spinach salad
• The Zou Bisou Bisou song from the Mad Men premier (so bad in a good way)
• Easter outfits in the stores (I want to rent little kids for Easter. I love those pastel dresses and the sweater vests and ties. So darn cute. Almost makes me wish…nah, nevermind.)

I think that's it for now. If you ever want to balance my checkbook, let me know. I hate doing it. I admire those who like it, though. They keep the world spinning on its axis.

Amanda, you crack me up! I love little kids in their Easter clothes too. I am interested in learning about Pinterest. I saw something about it on the news and thought i would love it. How does one get started on it?

I hear you on the treadmill. I have never ever been able to stand a treadmill for long. It just feels like a giant waste of time running in place. it's the same reason i can't stand jump roping.

I know it's weird to love balancing a checkbook. If i make a mistake i even have to go back to find where that mistake was.

At work, we once had a union treasurer in one of our smaller unions who didn't balance the books for over three years. And so shen she quit they asked me to help. I had so much fun putting those books in order. It took a whole week because there were so many mistakes and it was so way off for so many years. But i loved doing it. It was such a challenge.

I love numbers because if you twist them and massage them to suit your needs, they don't really lie.

I hear from our friend Todd we need to check out Pinterest too. And I can't believe you are running that long. I'm bored after 20 minutes.

Things I like:
1. Baths
2. Warm sun after not seeing it for so long.
3. My niece's laugh.
4. Having my friends cook for me after taking a cooking class :) - actually - having anyone else cook at any time in any place (almost)
5. Being outside somewhere beautiful

JULIE......... there you are. We are looking at your Zion photos... Utah? and Brian asked if you were there and i'm such a terrible friend. i couldn't remember. I said i thought you were like me and just getting around to organizing your photos from past trips months later.

We definitely need to look at Pinterest. I just need to know how to get it going. I'm also allittle bit afraid it might get addicting.
