Sort of a post summer rant.

Truth is i'm kind of sick of everything now that our Five Days of Summer in the Pacific Northwest are over. As i type it's pouring down rain and 61 degrees.

I read a really stupid crime book - it's so bad i am not even going to list the title or author. When when it was over i thought oh lord, i could write better than this. Why didn't i just stop reading it?

Inertia. It's not a good thing.

I was going to make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight. For two reasons:
#1 I have to open a bottle of red wine because i use it in the sauce. And drink the leftover.
#2 Meatballs always make me happy. (They are probably in my top ten favorite food.)

However, like emptying the dishwasher, washing salad greens and folding clothes, while i might love eating meatballs, but i really don't like making them.

I went for a run today and was a whole minute and a half slower on my route than normal. (I think it was because Natalie Merchant and Cat Stevens showed up on my playlist.)

OH, i started watching The King's Speech last night but we put it on too late and we both started getting tired so we will watch the rest tonight. I can tell that this movie is really good and i didn't want to miss a thing. We are watching it with the English subtitles! I can barely understand the actors.

I'm still kind of pissed off about the murder of my hydrangea bush by this condo board. And i hate that stupid prickly bush they replaced it with. I don't like prickly plants. I don't really even like roses that much because of their thorns. The owner before me had many many rose bushes out front and i took them out because i don't know how to care for roses, nor do i care to learn. (They always attracted aphids anyway, which got into my fuschias.)

OK, i guess that's enough for now. I just wanted to change my previous post about songs because it was dumb and redundant.

See, something is wrong when i don't even number these!

ACtually what made it all okay to rant was louielouie posted on the last music one about feeling no energy and i thought...GOOD, i'm not the only one!

Oh look

I have the energy to post again, and I'm on to another Next Food Network Star.

Still nothin' else, although I am thinking about working out later. Just thinking mind you

meatballs are way too hard

i wouldn't mind making meatballs if someone rolled them up for me. It's the rolling that i hate!

I watched Say Yes to the Dress today. One bride brought in EIGHT people to help her and then wondered why she couldn't make a decision. I love to hate idiots, which is why i watch the show.

Do you bake your meatballs and then add them to the sauce or just put them in with it? I like to make a big bunch and freeze them if I'm feeling extra domestic.

It's Tuesday so Chopped is on tonight. I have a secret crush on Ted Allen even if he is gay. I love that show. My son was in Flagstaff last weekend and he and his friend went to a place that was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, called Salsa Brava. Said it was wonderful. My husband went to a drive in that had been on the show when he was in Lexington KY.

I am so tired. I don't know why. My jaw aches but I don't have a toothache.

amulbunny, i actually did make a batch of meatballs last night. I do bake them. I broil them for about 4 minutes and then bake them about 4-6 minutes at 450 degrees until they are done.

I mix mine up with half 7% fat ground sirloin and half chicken Italian sausage. I saute chopped onions ahead of time and throw them in with some half and half, an egg, italian bread crumbs, chopped basil or ground basil and salt and pepper and then add grated parmesan. They are so good! But i hate the mess and i hate the cleanup and i really hate how it feels on my hands.

I have never watched Chopped. Is that a cooking show or one about motorcylcles? LOL.... i really don't know. Since you say a gay guy i'm thinking it might be cooking.

I would love to try one of Guy Fiero's diners, i bet it would be awesome!

Chopped is a great show. I have to catch in on-demand when my husband's not home. It's a competition where they give the contestants baskets of (mostly weird) ingredients. The panel chops them one at a time and the rest move on to the next course. The best one was when the panelists competed. I'm sweet on Ted Allen too.

Jo, try wearing gloves, the surgical type, to make meatballs. I wear them to do my stuffed jalapeƱos and now some other cooking stuff that gets yucky.

Saturday I am spending the day with my brother helping him prep for a big meal on sunday. wish I had better sous-chef skills. I would not last on any cooking show.

PS

Dr. Jeff Corey asked Mary Worth to mary him AGAIN. She wants to wait a little longer; until she's 573 years old!

So Chopped is a cooking show! Hey, what happened to Tyler Florence? Did he really sell out to Applebees only? I never see him on Food Network anymore and i miss him. Seems like every time i turn on that channel is Rachael Ray (I can barely stand to listen to her voice ), Giada's Kitchen (her big head is something i can't get past, though i like much of her cooking and own three of her cookbooks) or Guy Fieri or whatever his last name is and that chick that looks like his twin (their hair is a distraction but i like them best).

I think i would like being a sous chef for a really good cook since i'm such a task oriented person. I would like to be Tyler's sous chef... i would need to learn how to chop like a pro. What is Doug making louie?

I need to get some of those gloves. But i don't really like wearing rubber gloves when i clean, so i figure i would really hate the feel of those tight surgical ones. Which reminds me that Tabatha recently laid into one of the stylists (a really cute one) because he wouldn't wear gloves when doing color.

louie, you are so not going to get me hooked on Mary Worth. I can't believe i gave a year of my life to that old nosy virginal bitch.

I don't know where these days go. But they go so fast. Julie and i walked the Nisqually delta walk which was an hour and 45 minutes because we did it a second time. It's a pretty cool boardwalk walk and you feel far away even though I-5 is in the distance. I'm actually kind of sore from the walk even though it's not hilly whatsoever.

Tomorrow we're going to ride bikes to the Steilacoom farmers market. I have a basket on my bike now and i plan to buy some seafood and breads and maybe flowers.

I started Jodi Picoult's new book and i think i already hate it. She is off my list now, along with John Grisham, Stephen King, and Harlan Coben. (They used to be so good until they started cranking them out. )

I am also reading "What is the What" by Dave Eggers and it is really good about the Lost Boys in Sudan, and because of that sometimes i need a light reading break so i picked up Picoult. (Eggers is the author of "The Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" a book i really liked alot.

OK, time for bed!

I am outside reading on the patio and it's quiet because we have yet another crappy day. It starts pouring down rain and i like the sound of it on the roof. UNTIL those screaming meemie little boys come over to swim with their dad again. I cannot stand these kids and their piercing screams, which they do constantly while at the pool. They are so loud i can hear them from inside. And what the hell are they doing swimming in the pouring down rain and 63 degrees anyway? Their dad never ever tells them to keep it down and the screaming is pretty much constant as they play in the water.

I think i'm going to go find my old Marshall Mathers Eminem cd, the one with Stan and Slim Shady and a whole bunch of cuss words on it and i'm going to turn on my outdoor remote speakers and blast the music on the patio. I dare their stupid father to come over and tell me to turn it off.

Either that or i'm going to dig out my big orange extension cord and hood up my 1800 watt hair dryer and toss it in the pool.

I am sick of these kids. And with the loss of our adult hours we never seem to get a rest anymore. Kids swim over there even in the crappy weather!

Besides the screaming meemie kids, the namby pamby crappy summer and the political shitstorm going on over the debt ceiling crisis (and the Republicans doing whatever they can to make Obama look bad in any way regardless of what is right for the American People, i may resort to violence.

I'm taking donations for bail money.

Miracle of miracles. Summer arrived today. And not only that i actually got adult time at the pool! The screaming meemie family was there again so i put my speakers outside and played a cd i got from my friend Sarah/cowboy that is perfect. It drowned out their sounds. Finally they left and i went over.

I found out too that i'm not the only one who is tired of this family (they are THAT loud). So next time we plan to go over nicely and ask them to keep it down. I doubt parents who allow their kids to behave that way are going to be very good recipients of any news that might not make others think their kids are anything but stellar perfect angels, but we shall see. And if that doesn't work. I'm bringing out the Eminem cd! LOL.
