Just your regular random nothings.

1. I love my iPod, iTunes,  and my iMac so I was sorry to hear yesterday that Steve Jobs died. Not even all the money in the world could help heal him. I hadn't realized he was diagnosed quite a few years ago.

2. I got my first iPod from Brian for Christmas. It was the white one that held 5,000 songs. When i opened it up, i did not know what it was, though i had seen the U-2 commercial. I think it was either 2004 or 2005.

3. I learned to use a computer on an Apple II-C in 1985. Louielouie taught me and a few other enthusiastic educators from the junior high where we worked. I was hooked and could not wait to trade in my Correcting Selectric typewriter!

4. Louie actually bought one of those computers! I was so impressed. I think she was the first person in the District outside of the tech people to own one. Later that year, going through simultaneous divorces we started writing our reference book on how to be single. And after too much wine we accidentally erased the whole thing.

5. Later on we found out some dude plagiarized our work. I am not sure how that guy recovered our lost book from louie's computer, but when "He's Just Not That Into You" was published we found out just how close we had come to being wealthy. (If only we hadn't had that third glass of wine.)

6. Speaking of books, I just finished reading the Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. I am now reading another Lincoln Lawyer book entitled The Reversal. Matt McConnaughy perfected this character in the Lincoln Lawyer movie. It's a pretty good read that reminds me of old Grisham, back around The Firm and Time to Kill books.

5. This has been a very busy week at work and i love it, though not so much two back-tback 12 hour days because i don't get anything done at home. No laundry, no groceries, and no time to dust! (I love dusting!) I am looking forward to doing nothing all weekend. I will probably go buy a bottle of special red wine tomorrow,  purchase some new iTune music, make a fire and lay around and read The Reversal.

5. I love summertime, but i am usually ready for it to be over too. What's great about this time of year is  waking up in the morning when the heat kicks in and i can smell the coffee that Brian is brewing through the vents. It's a wonderful way to start the day.

6. The big thing that i don't like about this time of year (besides know that our gray winter is following) is switching out my summer clothes and going back to my regular (lighter) Lancome foundation. I also don't like that first day of running in long pants. And right now for the first time this season, I am wearing my Sporthill long pants while i procrastinate my workout by updating this blog.

7. Oh yeah, and i don't much care for Halloween either. I stay home and give out candy, but i don't really like it all that much. I think it's the expectant feel of the doorbell which makes it hard to relax.

8. I'm thinking about a Kindle or a Nook (color) or an iPad. Not sure i need all the bells and whistles of an iPad, but i'm uncertain about the best fit for me. I'll have to do research. If any of y'all have an e-reader, i hope you'll weigh in. I need a long battery life. I want color cause i plan to get cooking magazines. And i need to not wear out my eyes.

9. I don't have much to add to this so i'll probably change it up soon with a theme. I saw that iSad image and it inspired me to update my blog.

10. I wonder if i should use some of my retirement money to buy Apple stock???? Did it go back up yet?

I am totally isad too. I watched this and it helped a bit.

I was turned onto Mac's in 1992 and have never turned back, all their innovations have been life changing for people.

Oh yeah I think I kinda skipped that because I was wondering how you brew coffee through vents!!!

He changed the computer world, the music world and the cellular world all in a decade. Amazing.

I'm getting my first Iphone this year, I have several Ipods and I may even get the Ipad.

Very sad indeed.

Hey Charr and susieatl. I actually have three iPods. But i only really use one. I still hope i never need a cell phone. But if i were to purchase one, it would likely be an iPhone.

I am glad that Steve Jobs is the big news. My whole Facebook newsfeed is full of cool images and stories and YouTubes of him. Whoever said he was a Thomas Edison got it right.

I was just on iTunes trying to find something to buy. I think i'll wait for Ryan Adams' new cd to come out Tuesday. I did buy a couple of Josh Garrels songs, Don't Wait for Me and Rejoice and Lament. Awhile ago i bought a song by Braddigan called Walk On that he sat in on and i love that song so much.

I just discovered this about iTunes. It's way cooler buying stuff now that i have an iMac! I don't have to wait all that time while it loads after i buy a song! It's there immediately. So cool.

I am kind of thinking on the e-book thingie that i might lean towards the Nook Color. Barnes and Noble has more books to load than Amazon that i can tell from my research. Next time i'm in Barnes in Noble (i usually find myself there once a week at least), i'm going to take the tour. I think i will ask for one for Christmas.

What I love about my Nook at B & N is that not only do you have instant access to their library there..you can read for free for one hour. So I picked the titles I wanted to browse ...found a chair and read. Then after a few pages I either bought or not.

susie, i saw that in the research and i thought. WOW, i can STILL go tot he bookstore. That's a big deal to me. I love hanging out in bookstores and browsing through books before i buy them. I can't do that with a Kindle.

the biggest thing i am worried about is how it strains your eyes. How do you like it? And can you read in bed at night?

I have the e-reader..not the color and it is the same font/print etc as a book or newspaper.

I've read for hours on it. And it remember your place in the book. If you need a break from a book you can go to your library and pick another.

Thanks susieatl!

I finally got done switching out all my summer clothes in the closet. I always hate that job and i take an antihistamine just to get through it. But i got lots of clothes I don't wear anymore that i set aside for donation and wow, now i have empty closet shelves! That's cool. Let the autumn begin!

i am loving the iTunes music i finally found to buy. a Really beautiful song by Josh Garrels called Don't Wait for Me.I have another song by him I bought a while ago that i also love - with Braddigan called Walk On. I always thought he was a woman. He's has that kind of voice, kind of like Brett Dennen, that makes it hard to know.

I can tell i'm on my way to wearing it out already as i did with Violin by Amos Lee. I also bought a Shawn Mullins cd that i can't believe i missed buying earlier - Light You Up is the cd title. I've seen him twice in concerts, both outdoors during the summer and he is so great.

Teresa Spence (Countess Cares Alot) asked about you on the gumbo FB page. She was going through some papers and she found "Bitch Coffee". I told her I followed you on your blog and you were doing well.

Would you like to be in the YaYa group? It's open by invite only. Let me know?

oh good it worked!

I like the things I've been reading about Steve Jobs as a person. But I have been disillusioned lately about apple. I don't like how difficult they make it to transfer itunes songs to new devices. And when I got an android to replace my iphone, it was nearly impossible to transfer my contacts and data.

I knew what you meant about the vents.

I'm excited about autumn. The leaves are starting to turn and the air is crisp. And I won't have to cut the grass much longer. The only thing about autumn I don't like is that winter is right behind it. But then comes spring...

I am not ready to make the change to an electronic book. At least not yet. I haven't had much time for reading lately anyway. ;)

amul, i think i sort of remember Cares Alot's avatar. Was it a close up face of a woman with her head tilted? What i don't remember is what she posted about. That makes me a bad yaya. I'm flattered that she would actually have printed out my Bitch Coffee story that i posted and kept it. So now i really feel like a bad yaya for not remembering enough.

I can't do a yaya group. I like seeing yayas here, but i liked being able to break that Gumbo addiction when it shut down.

eque, i am loving how iTunes works better on my iMac. Burning a cd is faster. This may be coincidence, but i think not, but i burn a mix cd and now it displays the name of the song (instead of Track 1) when i play it in my car. But then i don't have a phone i'm working with.

I just got back from my public speaking class. I'm taking three weeks on Tuesdays. I have to give a speech on anything next week that is about 5 minutes long. We don't have to worry about our audience loving it. I think i'm going to talk about how someone like me, who hates running, manages to keep at it for 31 years. And why i do it.

Last week i liked the rain because we hadn't had it day in day out. But already this week i'm sick of it. Last night it rained so hard it woke me up from a nice dream because the noise outside my window scared me. It rained THAT hard.

Only 10 more months to go of it! I wish we could send some of it to Texas. Speaking of, what ever happened to TXGrits?

Where you be, louielouie? Are you still in mourning over Steve Jobs?
